Our Role

We worked closely with Graham Hudson to turn his creative vision into reality, using scaffolding and bespoke steel structures to build an impactful, industrial-style installation inside one of London’s most prestigious retail spaces.

Key Installations

  • Excavator Arm Installation: A large, deconstructed excavator arm was suspended in the space, supported by scaffold structures and surrounded by mannequin figures, evoking a raw, urban aesthetic.
  • Sculptural Window Display: A custom-built radial scaffolding structure was featured in Selfridges’ exterior display, drawing attention to the launch of the fragrance and creating a visual link to the industrial theme.
  • Structural Integrity & Safety: Given the weight and scale of the elements, our team ensured all installations were securely anchored, stable, and met strict safety regulations for public interaction.

Challenges & Solutions

  • Working in a Live Retail Environment: The installation took place inside a busy luxury department store, requiring careful logistics to minimise disruption to shoppers and staff.
  • Precision Engineering for Art: The scaffold structures had to be both functional and aesthetically aligned with Graham Hudson’s vision, requiring custom fabrication and adjustments.
  • Tight Installation Schedule: We worked within Selfridges’ strict overnight installation windows to ensure the project was completed without interfering with store operations.

Results

The installation successfully captured the raw and industrial inspiration behind Concrete by Comme des Garçons, creating a visually arresting experience for shoppers. By blending scaffolding, industrial materials, and high fashion, the project stood out as a bold artistic statement in one of London’s most iconic retail spaces.
